We hereby express our support for the Cofanes authorities signing a public pronunciation against the commercial activities related to the Yajé of Mr. Alberto José Varela. We undersigned do not oppose the expansion of the use of the Yajé itself. But we believe that the dissemination of these practices can only be made from knowledge, respect, and ethics. The activities of Mr. Alberto José Varela represent not only a danger for those who attend their ceremonies, but also for the very expansion and consolidation of these practices beyond their place of origin.
