Developments in the uses of ayahuasca: between swarmth, syncretism and marketing 2.0.

Abstract

In this short and partial work I highlighted how the uses of ayahuasca have changed in space and time: from tribal shamanic animism, to the syncretisms of urbanized mestizos in the early 1900s, to the rediscovery by sub-cons-cultures of youth, to scientific and pseudo-scientific studies, to thousands of psychonaut experiences in every part of the globe (maybe with local substitutes of original ingredients), to the unregulated marketing of what is presented as a remedy to all evils from figures, such as Varela, who, with their making between sornion and aggressive, resemble to telesales boarders of Wanna Marchi. Despite the pronouncement of the indigenous authorities Cofan, the Charter of 100, despite all, at least in the case of Putumayo, we are faced with the fact that somehow Indigenous Law was called in question (when not violated) and despite the continuous demands of the EU and the US or to the other countries to regulate somehow the creation of an induced need of ayahuasca, the company of Ayahuasca International, Ayahuasca Planet, Ayahuasca Travels, European School Ayahuasquera, in short, the piovra put on in time by Varela, continues indefexed. Its activity, indeed, from 2013 to today is recording a scary growth. I myself among my Facebook contacts I have that of an Italian facilitator registered as Lino Aya, on 2526 and then 3027 this month will hold conferences here in Rome organized by Ayahuasca International, in view of the withdrawal scheduled from 1 to 4 December, always in Rome, with Ayahuasca hiring and secretions of Bufo Alvarius (DMT). Obviously, the events advertised on social networks never indicate where the new Roman section of the association is located (neither the other Italian and non-Italian locations), there are only cell numbers (WhatsApp) and emails that would seem to be headed by this Lino, presented as coordinator of the Inner Mastery facilitators for Central Italy. My intention is to attend the conferences on 25 and 30, although I am completely convinced that nothing will be useful and nothing will come out of relevance from these cognitive meetings, except to attract new people more or less aware of what this organization is.
