Music allows for the existence of the bridge between the Earth and the Sky - The use of music in the hallucinogenic curing ritual in the low Huallaga region, Loreto, Peru.
The "meaning " of the musíc used by a semi-urbanízed shaman in eastern Peru during an ayahuasca curíng ceremony is elucidated by a joint analysis of ritual and musical structures. lt is suggested that music in such hallucínogenic rituals is an important and integral symbolíc and structural feature of the ritual as well as providing psychological support and guídance for the participants.
