Archeological findings indicate that the use of psychotropic plants dates back to more than 3000 BC. The use of the Ayahuasca must have come long after the invention of pottery as the plant has to be boiled in a clay pot before use. Most of the consumption of the Ayahuasca took place in the Amazon region of Ecuador.
