Use of ayahuasca (an Amazonian psychotropic substance), which is presently a fashionable therapeutic process among Western people, can be problematic. This practice has its roots in a therapeutical void in our society. Unfortunately, it is tangled up in a number of misunderstandings that minimise the strength of and the danger inherent to ayahuasca use. This paper points out the dangers that are overlooked due to linguistic misunderstandings and confusion.
