The flow of the Form: Art, Alterity and Agency in an Amazonic Society (Kaxiniwa, Acre).

Abstract

The Kaxinawa never considered the forms of things as data or natural, because it is in itself fluidity in the perceptive way that the concept of agency and Kaxinawa is based. Non-human beings, yuxin and yuxibu, are the masters of transformation in form and the human condition lies in the achievement of a certain fixed form in the middle of a multiplicity of possible forms. Careful producing the proper kaxinawa of people as thinking bodies, i.e. subjects with shared social principles, depends on a specific logic governing the attention given to the power of images and form. And the power of the images to create and destroy the forms in Kaxinawa life this book deals with.
