The paths of dissident ecstasy in the cognitive flow between men, leaves, charms and vines: an ayahuasquira ethnography nordestinate.

Abstract

The ritual phenomena of the shamanic beverage ayahuasca reveal some mystical, affective and cultural potentialities. Our contemporanary cities create different configurations through the divine search promoted by ingestion of this infusion, originally used by early andeans. The beverage use was expanded in urban centers by brazilian ayahuasca religious groups (daimista and udevista). These are responsible for its doctrine propagation through our country and in the rest of the world, constructing and helping to amplify a social “network relation” formed from the ritualization of this entheogen. Actually, new groups are in emergence, reinterpreting and continuing the tradition costumes from the “original” institutions. They are dissidents and do their own way in the communion of the forest’s tea, persevering the tradition, despite of the conflicts and inherent pacts of the legitimation of their symbolic and ritual actions. The direction of spiritual works of these groups persevere guided by doctrinaire knowledge elaborated by the early daimistas and udevistas masters, remembered, reelaborated and daily adapted to their own realities. The sacrality of the infusion continues and the promoted divine experience do not leave behind from the mystical and ritual atmosphere, which is observed consume patterns that help the adepts in ayahuasca experience and acquire knowledge from this astral trips. These last are important to continual reformulation of acts and concepts related with the sacred contact. Is an objective of the urban-contemporanery anthropology the aware register of this dissipations with the purpose to demystify that’s is ignored by the knowledge absence. The social sciences as a whole has to accompany and comprehend the people motives for the search of these practices, evidently distinct, as well the motive that leave these people to mobilize and construct a new ayahuasqueiro group, producing their own beverage and doing continuity to the tradition, with responsibility, by their own material and spiritual necessities and realities. Two northeastern nucleus were visited to ethnographic analyze: the Associação Espiritualista União do Vegetal, located on Riacho das Almas city (PE) and the Centro de Harmonização Interior Essência Divina, located on Riacho Doce district (AL). Both are dissidents from the old ayahuasqueiras matrices. In the present work, we directed our look to the mobilization of these groups, to its symbolic interpretations of the experienced phenomena in each beverage session, in which the disciples are reunited to communion of the sacred tea that, to their, is a live being, divine, with power, own will, exigency and wisdom.
