The aim of this essay is to analyze the emergent spiritual phenomena in the ayahuasca sessions in the Associação Espiritualista União do Vegetal, a schismatic udevista sect from Pernambuco state located in the city of Riacho das Almas. We will seek to understand how the participants are connected with the so-called „Superior Astral‟, considering the direct correlation between spirit and matter in a complementary and not reduced dualism, based on the doctrinaire referential and principles of the founder of the União do Vegetal, master José Gabriel da Costa. The interviews conducted with some followers allow us to grasp the manifestation of religious ecstasy, as well as the routes to be followed before the received information in ayahuasca rites, known as a „drink teacher‟ that often test his pupils through the contact with that spiritual reality.
