This interpretative distinction between the intentions of two authors draws to our attention another distinction, much wider and probably less defined in its respective boundaries, such as that between scientific-academic literature concerning Ayahuasca on the one hand and non-academic literature on the same subject on the other, of which at least one part is made fall within a narrative and novel philosophy generically defined as new-age, a complex of texts generally excluded from scientific discourse, generally devalued by scarcity of rigour and rational detachment.
