The autor intends to demonstrate how the neo-shamanic practices are present in Europe and in particular in the French territory.
To better define these practices and to understand how the «sabiduria indigena » -indigenous and ancestral knowledge- of pre-Hispanic populations (Otomi) is trying to become part of cosmology of the French people setting out on initiatory journeys to Mexico, it is necessary to trace modern shamans and follow their wandering between the old and new world (France and Mexico), to observe their rituals and gestures and to interpret exegetic use of language and the modalities of mobilizing objects they carryng over.
The modern shaman carefully uses contemporary tools enabling him to either diffuse his own messages or to emphasize his own trustworthiness.
However it is not the search for authenticity that induces the French to face long and arduos journeys. There are more subtles reason closely related to the ability of dreaming, that only the written word still offers. And that’s why neo-shamanic identity resides in the written word and journey is nothing but the necessary movement, which starts off and returns to literature after a long and exotic periplus.
