In light of these facts – that the ritual use of a psychedelic plant has spread outside the Amazon over the past decades; that the available data constantly suggest that these practices are reasonably secured; and that, however, public health and public security considerations must be balanced with the considerations of social-historical and human rights, such as the universal right to religious freedom – we encourage the competent authorities of countries in which Brazilian ayahuasqueira religions are currently able to show tolerance and to grant these groups the necessary degree of legal freedom and commitment they can continue to evolve as safe and globalized collaborators of today’s multicultural and globalized society.
