Abstract

In recent decades, the bark of Mimosa tenuiflora has revealed a great therapeutic potential in the topical treatment of burns, even the most serious: a series of serious accidental events in Mexico have been causing its reputation as a valuable natural resource for the treatment of injured, bringing to light a popular use which has been taking its first steps for a few years. This species is used as a visionary source in the “Jurema cult”, an original rite of Brazilian ethnic today in secret and synchronic forms with other African-Brazilian practices, and it is pharmacologically interested in the possible presence of potentially MAO-inhibitors, which are not yet identified.
