In the extensive Colombian territories of the Putumayo and Caqueta rivers, grows a plant which the inhabitants of those regions call "Yaje".
It seems to corresponf to the Haemadictyen Amazonicum of the Apocynaceae.
The plant contains two alkaloids which ar maned yajeine and yajenine.
The small doses we have tried on human beings produce a deep sleep and a sensation of well-being.
