This work consists of an ethnographic case study conducted in Colombia that addresses the trajectories of two people diagnosed with schizophrenia who sought the yagé (ayahuasca) to deal with their condition. The conceptions of the medicine yagecera (ayahuasquera) that these subjects articulated and analyzed the resources found in this medicine that proved to be therapeutic to them. This context allowed them to autonomously host their experiences with schizophrenia and develop from them. The perspective of the interlocutors on their processes was confronted with the psychiatric perspective of schizophrenia in order to contribute to a more sensitive development of the notion of mental health care.
