Peter Gorman is a journalist who has spent a considerable amount of time in the jungles of eastern Peru, and has collected Matses artifacts - generally things they've thrown away - for the American Museum of Natural History : It's been over a year since I've been to the jungle. During that time, the lessons of that last visit have proven to be good ones. I still don't know how much of what is seen with the help of ayahuasca is real and how much is just a projection of the subconscious. Certainly, parts of visions have been confirmed to my satisfaction, but that doesn't make them all true.
If I were asked today whether or not I would take ayahuasca again, I'd have to say I'm not sure. Parts of my last ayahuasca experience were terrifying, and I'm still fearful something similar might happen if I used it again.
