Rather than describing how the anthropologist observes shamanic activities associated with yap( rituals, I wish to let the Siona speak for themselves about their experiences on the "other side" when ingesting yage. Since they have developed a sophisticated oral art form which entertains as well as instructs others as to what happened when taking yage, it is not difficult to give the Siona a voice. They are experts in telling about their dreams and shamanic flights. After a brief introduction to their narrative tradition and to shamanic apprenticeship, I will present a narrative told by Ricardo Yaiguaje about one of his experiences as a shamanic apprentice.
