Abstract

In recent years, there has been a revival of interest in the constituents of various species of plants and their uses for therapeutic purposes. The literature is replete with examples of chemical and pharmacological studies of numerous plants based on their use in folklore medicine. Extensive literature and field studies of many plants by various ethnic groups have been made. In particular, interesting discoveries have been made of plant sources with some use as psychotherapeutic agents.
