This presentation deals with the current demand for Brazilian ayahuasca religions to associate the use of the psychoactive beverage ayahuasca with the theme of cultural policies. We shall examine more particularly the process which led to the request of the registration of the ritual use of the ayahuasca as an immaterial heritage of Brazilian culture.
