The aim of this text is to serve as the most exhaustive survey possible of the current bibliography of the Brazilian ayahuasca religions – Santo Daime (including both of its two lines: Alto Santo and Cefluris), Barquinha, and the União do Vegetal – and their dissidents. The references are organized by language: Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese and Spanish. Inclusion criteria are as follows: for works in Portuguese, we have included all finished or inprogress graduate-level texts (Masters or Doctoral), whether or not they were published as scientific articles (in books, journals or on the Internet) or as books. Also included were non-academic texts produced by practitioners of the ayahuasca religions. Texts from the areas of pharmacology, psychology and biomedicine were also included if they reported on studies conducted among the ayahuasca religions or if they in some way examined the religions’ more symbolic aspects. When possible for these cases, along with the bibliographic references, short descriptions were included [in brackets] of where and when the research took place. For texts in languages other than Portuguese, given the lack of writing on the theme, the inclusion criteria were slightly broader, including undergraduate senior theses, texts in non-specialized journals, and books, theses, and articles that touch on the Brazilian ayahuasca religions only tangentially. Legal documents and articles from newspapers and the Internet that deal with the legal disputes of the União do Vegetal and of Santo Daime in Brazil, the United States and Europe were excluded.
