Finally, indigenous associations support themselves the political use of Amazon knowledge. Based on Convention 169 of the General Conference of the International Labour Organization, held in Geneva in 1989, the protection of the spiritual bond that collectively peoples establish with the territory, as set out in paragraph 13 of the Treaty. Respect for the territory and indigenous spirituality are evidently evident as two faces of the same phenomenon and confirming that possible access to progress, starting from their cultural roots, indigenous leaders are engaged in the promotion of awareness laboratories aimed at the natural Amazonian knowledge and its application in confronting the challenges imposed by modernity.
